BC Library Celebrates 50th Anniversary with History Exhibition
The Alexander Mack Memorial Library at Bridgewater College turns 50 this year, and is celebrating with an exhibition of items that reflects the history of the library.
The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be on display on the first floor of the library on Friday, April 19, from 9 am.-5 p.m.; Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Sunday, April 21, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
The exhibition will feature a diorama of the Alexander Mack Memorial Library created by Bridgewater junior Chris Conte of Wytheville, Va.; photographs from Bridgewater College Special Collections depicting the library in its several campus locations through the years; and a range of college-related items from the Reuel B. Pritchett Museum.
"The college's archives preserve a large collection of photographs documenting campus libraries at their various locations and many scenes of students and library staff using the libraries," said Stephanie S. Gardner, special collections librarian at Bridgewater. "We reproduced a number of these historic photographs for the exhibit. Artifacts from each era of campus history will also be on display and the exhibit will be a walk through time. We hope people enjoy remembering and reminiscing as they connect with these images of classmates, friends and possibly themselves.”
