Scott Griffin Awarded Ulrich Physics Scholarship
Scott R. Griffin was awarded the Dale V. Ulrich Physics Scholarship, which honors a former professor of physics and dean and provost of Bridgewater College.
The scholarship, based on academic merit, is given annually to an outstanding junior in the physics department. The $860 scholarship was presented to Griffin at the annual Awards Convocation on May 7.
Griffin, a rising senior chemistry and physics double major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Griffin of Fredericksburg, Va.
At Bridgewater, Griffin serves as a tutor in physics and chemistry.
Griffin has worked with Project Perry at the Central Virginia Parrot Sanctuary in Louisa, Va., a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and sanctuary of parrots living in captivity.
Ulrich came to Bridgewater in 1958 and retired at the end of the 1989-99 academic year. He served 38 years on the Bridgewater faculty – 15 years as dean of the college, nine years as provost and 14 years as professor of physics. He lives in Bridgewater, Va.
