BC Alumni Association Awards 2013-14 Scholarships
The Bridgewater College Alumni Association recognized five students for excellence in the campus community at the annual awards convocation on May 7.
The Alumni Legacy Scholarships are presented to rising juniors or seniors whose parent(s) graduated from Bridgewater College. The scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, reward loyalty of alumni who encourage their children to attend Bridgewater College, provide a sense of connection with previous generations of Bridgewater students and foster an interest in the Alumni Association and its programs.
Receiving Alumni Legacy Scholarships for 2013-14 are:
• Amanda Lee Harpine, a junior majoring in business administration, is the daughter of Ronnie and Ashby Harpine of Broadway, Va.;
• Kendyl Kelly, a junior majoring in art, is the daughter of Tony and Tammy Kelly of Fincastle, Va.;
• Aislinn H. Mirsch, a junior majoring in international studies with minors in cultural studies and philosophy and religion, is the daughter of Uwe Mirsch and Lee-Lani Wright of Cottage Grove, Ore.; and
• Katelyn Wampler, a junior majoring in biology with a minor in philosophy and religion, is the daughter of Ben and Sherrie Wampler of Nokesville, Va.
The Citizenship Award is presented annually to a senior who has demonstrated citizenship and made contributions within the college community.
J.J. Krehbiel, a senior sociology and international studies double major, is the recipient of this year’s Citizenship Award. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Krehbiel of McPherson, Kan.
Krehbiel, who graduated on May 18, received a Kennedy Center Fellowship to teach acting and improvisation games to economically and socially disadvantaged children in Bangalore, India.
