Alumni and Friends to Celebrate 2013 Homecoming Oct. 18-20

Bridgewater College invites alumni and friends of the college to celebrate Homecoming activities on Oct. 18 – 20 with the 2013 theme “Spread Your Wings, it’s Time to Fly!”

Alumni and community members are invited to celebrate with former classmates, cheer the Eagles on to victory at a game, meet President David Bushman and enjoy all the family-friendly activities on the campus mall.

Friday, Oct. 18, 7:45 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 20, 1 to 5 p.m.
Bridgewater College Special Collections honors BC’s nine presidents with an exhibition of artifacts, archives and photographs from their lives and administrations located in the Alexander Mack Memorial Library.

Friday, Oct. 18

Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament
9 a.m.
Hosted by the BC men’s golf team at Lakeview Golf Course, the shotgun-start tournament includes flights for senior and regular divisions. Lunch is included.

Women’s Field Hockey Game
4 p.m.
BC Lady Eagles take on Eastern Mennonite University on Mapp Field.

Volleyball Game
7 p.m.
BC Lady Eagles take on Shenandoah University in Nininger Hall.

Saturday, Oct. 19

Homecoming 5K Run/Walk
8 a.m.
Starting and ending at Nininger Hall, the course winds around the Bridgewater community. Pre-registration is recommended. Proceeds benefit the Bridgewater Fund.

Homecoming Festival
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A family-oriented festival on the campus mall will feature live music, food, games, inflatables, caricature artist, face painting and balloon animals.

Stone Village Tour
10 to 11 a.m.
Alumni and friends may tour Stone Village, located at East College and College View streets. The modified Victorian-style residences are constructed as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified project.

Coaches’ Corner
10:30 a.m.
Dr. Daniel Geiser, Dr. Mary Frances Heishman ’66 and Laura Mapp will be honored on Bowman Plaza.

Volleyball Game
10:30 a.m.
BC Lady Eagles take on Washington and Lee University in Nininger Hall.

Class Reunion Picnics
11:30 a.m.
Reunion picnics will be held on the campus mall for the classes of 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013.

Football Game
1 p.m.
The Bridgewater Eagles take on the Guilford Quakers on Jopson Field. During halftime, the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.

Men’s Soccer Game
4 p.m.
BC Eagles take on Hampden-Sydney College on the soccer field.

Men’s Basketball Alumni Game
4:30 p.m., Nininger Hall

Concert
7:30 p.m.
The Bridgewater College Chorale and Jazz Ensemble will present a concert in the Carter Center for Worship and Music. The performance is free and open to the public.
