EcoSteps™ to Sustainability
EcoSteps™ illustrates the progress Bridgewater Dining Services has made to address sustainable food service and environmentally-friendly dining operations.
We’re committed to making smart and thoughtful choices for the environment.
Here are a few ways we reduce our carbon footprint:
- Compostable containers are used in our "On the Go!" and "Take 5" programs.
- Spent fryer oil is converted to bio-diesel fuel.
- Napkins are made from recycled paper.
- We offer a recyclable mug program at the Crimson Café.
- Trayless dining in the Main Dining Hall
- Local food purchasing
- Green catering
Look for the EcoSteps logo, which identifies and promotes our continuous focus on sustainable food, green practices and other environmental initiatives.
We also source more than 20 percent of our food locally through our FarmSource™ program, which is an initiative to find and partner with some of the finest local growers and producers. Most of our farmers are within a 125-mile radius of our campus. By working with local producers such as Homestead Creamery, Crown Orchards, Mr. J’s Bagels, and Greenberry’s Coffee we are able to enhance the freshness and quality of our product offerings without compromising our commitment to food safety, all while supporting and strengthening the local agricultural community.
