Where is it?
The counseling center is located on the second floor of Rebecca Hall in Suite 218

Who is eligible to receive services from the counseling center?
Any full-time student who is currently enrolled at Bridgewater College may receive counseling services.

How much does it cost?
Students are offered 10 free counseling sessions as part of their tuition. If further counseling is desired or needed, the counseling center staff will work with the student to establish services.

What are BC's counseling center hours and how do I make an appointment?
The counseling center is open to see students from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A student may make an appointment by calling the counseling center at ext. 5402 or simply stop by Rebecca Hall and make an appointment in Suite 218.

Who are the counselors at BC?
The counseling center is staffed by two full-time, licensed mental health professionals who are dedicated to offering the highest quality counseling experience. Our practice is informed by a deep faith that every student can develop the tools to reach their full potential as a developing young adult. See the counselor profiles on the counseling services homepage.

Who is informed about my counseling sessions?
Counseling is confidential. The counseling center does not disclose information to anyone without written consent of the client/student except as required by law. The fact that a student is being seen by a counselor is confidential. Confidentiality is only compromised when there is a situation of imminent danger or substantial concern with regard to self or others.

How do I know that counseling is really for me?
About 11 percent of Bridgewater students will seek counseling in the coming year. Many of your classmates are dealing with common, everyday issues that sometimes compromise their ability to be the best student and person they can be. You are not alone and we are here to help. No problem is too small and no problem is too big.

If you are unsure about counseling and whether or not it is for you, stop by during walk-in hours. Our staff is happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Note: students should not seek services at the counseling center exclusively for the purpose of obtaining a letter of support for missing classes or for a medical withdrawal from classes. The Center does not provide letters at the time of an initial consultation and cannot provide documentation regarding a student's mental health without a history of services at The Center during the specified time period. If necessary, students are encouraged to seek letters of support from individuals directly involved in their care such as past or present psychological / psychiatric providers, medical doctors or family members.
