I am currently a Sophomore at Bridgewater College. While here I plan on obtaining a degree in English, earning my certification to teach secondary, and adding on an ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsement.
I call Charlotte, North Carolina home, but was raised in Maryland.
The top 2 things that made me want to become and English Teacher.
*Being on an Amazing Newspaper staff. (I hope to advise a staff when I teach.)
* A dedicated 8th grade English teacher who also was in charge of the 8th grade play. An article on this production
In two year I will become one of America's teachers who are trying to educate the youth. I will start teaching High School English.
To me this is important because it allows students to be successful in other classrooms, in their career, and in anything they wish to pursue. By teaching English I will not just be educating students, but I will be giving each individual a voice. Improving their literacy will allow my students to be able to read and decipher text ranging from novels to legal documents. It will also allow students to write down what they believe and share it with the world.
I hope my love for the language and understanding of it's importance can be passed on to my future students by my teaching.
