Mission
To support and encourage Bridgewater College faculty in the
effective use of educational technology in the instructional
mission of the College.
Goals
- To encourage the appropriate and effective use of
educational technology by faculty members in the pursuit
of excellence in education.
- To facilitate faculty members and academic departments in
locating, evaluating and implementing educational
technology.
- To promote effective communication between faculty
members and informational technology staff persons on
campus.
Activities
- The director will spend time interacting with faculty (in
their offices, departmental meetings and other campus
settings and through email and phone conversations) so as
to learn what is needed with respect to educational
technology issues on campus and to provide information,
assistance and solutions.
- The director will stay knowledgeable about technology
that is of concern to the faculty (office productivity
programs, course management software, use of the world
wide web, web page authoring, computer projection
technology and subject area specific software such as
graphical and mathematical packages) and will assist
academic departments and individual faculty members in
their selection and use of software specific to their
educational goals.
- The director will serve as an advocate for faculty and
keep in regular contact with the information technology
staff persons on campus so that issues of concern may be
dealt with effectively and efficiently.
- The director will conduct or arrange for workshops on how
to use the appropriate technologies available on campus.
- The director will publish newsletters and will maintain
the Academic Computing web pages as sources of
information addressing educational technology issues on
campus.
- The director will also provide assistance and support for
academic departments and individual faculty in the
authoring and maintenance of departmental and
course-specific web pages.
