  • usability.com ( http://usability.gov/ ) - excellent source to use before, during and after writing a web site from an unexpected source, the National Cancer Institute (USA).
  • useit.com ( http://www.useit.com/ ) - Jakob Nielsen, a leader in web usability, has constructed a site full of suggestions for increasing the usability of web sites and things to watch out for.
  • Web Usability Handbook Site ( http://www.usablesites.com/ ) - buy the book, too!
  • Writing for the Web ( http://www.sun.com/980713/webwriting/ ) - an excellent reminder of straight-forward techniques that can increase the usability of a web site; older (the title graphic is missing) page but still very good!
  • Writing for the Web ( http://www.useit.com/papers/webwriting/ ) - based on a 1997 article, "Concise, SCANNABLE, and Objective: How to Write for the Web" with a case study and much more.
  • Quality Web Content ( http://www.qwc.co.nz/ ) - with loads of good articles on writing effectively for the web.
  • Firelily Designs ( http://www.firelily.com/opinions/index.html ) - one person's opinions on the issues involved in the area of CHI (computer-human interaction).
  • Web Metrics Testbed ( http://zing.ncsl.nist.gov/WebTools/ ) - a suite of freeware utilities that can be used on a web server to test and display usability results from users.
