Publication information

• "My Old Man" and "Out of Season" were previously published in Three Stories and Ten Poems in 1923. Smith gives chronology and publication history of each story in A Reader's Guide to the Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway.
• The stories appeared in book form in America in 1925. In 1930 Scribner's second edition was printed with "An Introduction By the Author" (retitled "On the Quai at Smyrna" in 1938).
