College Awards - to honor outstanding students

Two seniors have been honored for excellence in the Department of English at Bridgewater College.

The Outstanding Senior Award in English was presented to Katie Downing, and Max E. Weidman received the Outstanding Senior Award in Professional Writing.

The recipients are selected based on excellence in work performed in the English and professional writing majors.

Downing, an English and theater double major, is the daughter of Bob and Peg Downing of Eldersburg, Md.

Downing is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an international collegiate English honor society, and Alpha Psi Omega, a national theater fraternity. She is a member of the college’s Flory Honors Program. She also served as President of the Pinion Players, the student-led theater organization.

Weidman, a professional writing major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Weidman of Seaford, Va.

Weidman served as an Associate Editor and staff writer for BC Voice, the student-run media organization on campus. He was a member of the Student Support Foundation and the Student Ambassador Association. He was also a member of the varsity men’s track and cross country teams.
