Science-Fiction Author Bill Campbell and ‘Black Panther’ Movie Come to BC

Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Bill Campbell, author of Sunshine Patriots and The Outback Vision Protocol, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Bridgewater College. A screening of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther will follow Campbell’s presentation, beginning at 8 p.m. Both events are in Cole Hall and open to the public at no charge.

Campbell will speak on “The Black Fantastic: The Politics of Image and Representation.”

Released in February 2018, Black Panther received praise from critics for its direction, screenplay, acting, production and costume design and soundtrack.

In 2013, Campbell, a science-fiction writer, founded Rosarium Publishing with the goal of bringing diversity to publishing. By publishing high-quality books and comics, the company strives to reflect the multicultural world we live in today.

Campbell describes Rosarium as “a fledgling publisher specializing in speculative fiction, comics, and a touch of crime fiction—all with a multicultural flair.”

He lives in Washington, D.C., where he also helps produce audio books for the blind.
