State of the Culture: Panel Discussion

Bridgewater College will host State of the Culture, a facilitated panel engaging in conversation around politics, diversity, culture and more, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the Boitnott Room.

Topics will include progression and development in minority/marginalized communities, the upcoming election, overall state of diversity, mental health and higher education.

Serving as moderator of the panel is Lenny Williams, from Trill or Not Trill, an educational platform made to integrate culturally relevant content within the world of student development and leadership. He is also a business professor.

Other panelists include, Tiffany D. Loftin, NAACP National Director for the Youth and College Division; Jeff Dress, from Trill or Not Trill and the director of the Center for Leadership and Engagement at New Jersey City University; Mario Enríquez, director of domestic programs for LGBTQ Victory Institute; AnhThu Nguyen, from the Shenandoah LGBTQ Center; Bobbi Gentry, assistant professor of history and political science at Bridgewater College; Roslyn Vargas, assistant professor of economics and business administration at the college; and Gabriel Driver, youth minister at Divine Unity Community Church.

“The vision for this event is to create a space where students and community members can be engaged in a global conversation to understand efforts around diversity, equity, inclusion, politics, education and activism,” said DeAndrae Powell, assistant director of Diversity Education and Advocacy at Bridgewater College.

This event is co-sponsored by Bridgewater College’s Department of Student Life and Office of Diversity Education and Advocacy. The event is free and open to the public.
