Alumni Spotlight | Jennifer Midgette ’08

Jennifer Midgette came to Bridgewater College because Bridgewater gave her a chance to succeed. She struggled initially and did not complete her first semester. Thanks to the encouragement of caring faculty, she came back for Interterm and spring and found her place in the Department of Communication Studies. She learned how to hold her own in class and to participate in class discussions, actively learning and sharing with those around her. She said her Bridgewater education “shaped the person I am today.”

After graduating in 2008 with her degree in communication studies, Midgette earned a second bachelor’s degree from Full Sail University in film and television production in 2010. Her desire to pursue a career in the news and entertainment industry led her to a career at NBC News. Following two promotions, she now holds the title of Technical Media Manager. She provides technical support for the editors and producers of shows including NBC Nightly News and the Today Show and other programs on channels such as MSNBC and Telemundo. Midgette said the communication skills she gained at Bridgewater “laid the groundwork for my current career.”

She comes back to campus as often as she can, attending Homecoming, reuniting with the communication studies faculty, interacting with current students and speaking to classes, and attending special events. “Bridgewater is a special place for me. Whenever I come back, a smile crosses my face when I see the campus entrance.”
