Katrina Weirup to Give Senior Recital on April 9

Katrina Weirup will present a senior voice recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.

For her soprano voice recital, Weirup will perform “Par Che di giubilo” and “Confuso Smarrito” from Sei Cavatinae, Op. 39 by Mauro Giuliani, “My Heart Ever Faithful” from Cantata 68 by Johann Sebastian Bach, “La Rosa y el Sauce” by Carlos Guastavino and “Morgen” by Richard Strauss. She also will sing “Als Luise die Briefe ihres ungetreuen Liebhabers verbrannte” by Wolfgang A. Mozart, “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin and “Loveliest of Trees” and “The Bird” by John Duke. Weirup will also perform “Ce que je suis sans toi” and “Faites- lui mes aveux” from Faust by Charles Gounod.

Weirup will also perform a duet, “Sous le dôme de épais” from Lakmé by Léo Delibes, with Sydney Bright, a junior political science and French double major. Bright is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luckner Bright of Alexandria, Va.

Weirup, a music major, is the daughter of Mark and Lorna Weirup of Blue Ridge, Va. Weirup is a member of the Bridgewater College Chorale, the Concert Choir and the Handbell Choir. She is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

Weirup studies voice under Lucy Hoyt, adjunct instructor of music. She will be accompanied on piano by Lacey Johnson, instructor of music, and on guitar by Matthew Broglio, a 2015 Bridgewater College graduate.

The recital is free and open to the public.
