Philip Meador Awarded 2017-18 Petcher Scholarship

Bridgewater College student Philip Meador received the Esther Mae Wilson Petcher Memorial Scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year. The $2,200 scholarship was presented at the annual awards ceremony.
The award is named in memory of Esther Mae Wilson Petcher, a member of the Bridgewater class of 1944 and a former missionary to Nigeria. The grant is given each year to a rising senior in good academic standing who demonstrates leadership in campus activities with emphasis on religious life.
Meador, a communication, technology and culture major, is the son of Kirby and Donna Meador of Roanoke, Va.
Meador is a member of the Philomathes Society, Bridgewater’s scholastic honor society, and Lambda Pi Eta, a national communication honor society. He is a member of the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble and a Jazz Combo. He also sings in the Concert Choir. He plays guitar for the CRU worship band and serves as a worship leader for BC Chapel. He is a member of Theatre at Bridgewater College and serves as a Student Ambassador.
