Symphonic Band to Present Concert on Nov. 12

The Bridgewater College Symphonic Band will present a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.

The Symphonic Band is under the direction of Dr. Christine Carrillo, associate professor of music and director of instrumental music at Bridgewater College.

The concert will present Symphony 3 in C by Camille Saint Saëns, featuring Dr. Larry Taylor, associate professor of music, on the organ. The program also includes Chorale Prelude BWV 720 Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott by J.S. Bach in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

 “Mother Earth” by David Maslanka will be performed in celebration of his life and the impact he had on the wind band repertoire. He died in August 2017.

The Symphonic Band will also perform “Shenandoah” by Frank Ticheli, “The Danserye” by Tielman Susato, “Saturn Returns” by Michael Markowski and John Mackey’s “Night on Fire.”

The concert is free and open to the public.
