Baccalaureate

When and where is Baccalaureate?
Baccalaureate will be held under the tent on the Campus Mall at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019.

What is Baccalaureate? Is it required?
Baccalaureate is a worship service honoring the graduating class. The service will last approximately one hour and includes multiple hymns, musical selections from the choir and the Baccalaureate message. Baccalaureate is open to any guests that would like to attend and is not required.

Will there be a live stream of Baccalaureate?
No, there will not be a live stream of Baccalaureate.

How should we dress for Baccalaureate?
Worship attire is recommended. Graduates will be wearing their caps and gowns.

If we attend Baccalaureate, are we required to attend the Baccalaureate Reception?
No, the Baccalaureate Reception is optional for our guests.

When is the Baccalaureate Reception and how much will it cost?
The Baccalaureate Reception will be held in the Kline Campus Center Dining Hall directly following the Baccalaureate Service at approximately 7 p.m. (President Bushman will offer a greeting at 7:30 p.m.). Graduates will be able to pre-pay for reception tickets beginning the week of April 29. Graduates will be covered as long as they present their ID.

Commencement

When and where is Commencement?
Commencement will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. on the Campus Mall.

Will there be a live stream of Commencement?
Yes, there will be a live stream of Commencement. The link to the live stream will be available on the Commencement Website beginning the morning of Commencement.

How long will Commencement last?
Commencement is approximately two hours.

Is there reserved seating?
Yes, there is a reserved seating section. Graduates will be given four reserved seating tickets for their guests. For more information on seating, please see the “Tickets” section on the Commencement page.

Caps, Gowns and Other

When do graduates get their caps and gowns? How much do they cost?
Graduates will pick up their caps and gowns during Senior Salute. Senior Salute will be held on March 26 and March 27. The cost of the cap and gown is included in tuition. Please see the Information for Graduates page for additional information.

When and how do graduates get their announcements?
Graduates will be able to order announcements directly from Jostens during Senior Salute. Graduates can also order announcements and other items from the Jostens website at any time.

When do graduates receive their diploma?
Diplomas will be given to graduates as they cross the stage during the Commencement exercises.

Weather

Baccalaureate
Baccalaureate will be held under a tent on the Campus Mall, rain or shine. If there is the potential for severe weather, an alternate location will be announced via the www.bridgewater.edu website.

Commencement
Commencement will be held under a tent on the Campus Mall, rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, guests will be directed to safe locations for viewing.

Parking

Handicapped parking will be available to guests in three locations: East College Street, the Carter Center Lot, and the Third Street Lot. Guests will need to display handicapped tags or a placard in order to park in those areas.

For guests who need golf-cart assistance from their cars to seating on the Campus Mall, there will be a pull-off area set aside on East College Street, at the center of the Campus Mall, for guests to drop off anyone who may need golf cart assistance.  Once guests are dropped off, drivers must park along East College Street or in either the Carter Center Lot or the Third Street Lot. Once Commencement has ended, golf cart drivers will take guests back to vehicles in one of those three handicapped parking locations.
