Commencement Information for Senior Students

Commencement is only a few months away! Commencement events are being carefully planned in order to honor your achievements. Please be sure to check your email, as well as the Commencement website, for important Commencement information and reminders over the next few months. Please be advised, seniors who have reasons that will make it impossible for them to attend Commencement should present a written request/notification to the Provost by Friday, April 6, 2018.

Senior Salute

Senior Salute will be held on Tuesday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, March 28 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m in the Boitnott Room. Please watch your email for specific information.

The following will be participating in Senior Salute:

  • Jostens – Jostens will be on hand for cap and gown pick-up and will also be able to help with ordering graduation announcements, class rings, etc. If you have any questions about ordering your cap and gown, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.   • Office of the Registrar – The Registrar will be available to answer any questions regarding graduation requirements and eligibility.
  • Career Services – Career Services will be offering advice and assistance for life after graduation including writing resumes, job search assistance, and graduate school selection.
  • Alumni Relations – Alumni Relations can assist seniors with alumni registration.

You should have received instructions over winter break regarding how to order your cap and gown from Jostens. This must be done by February 14, 2018 in order to pick up your regalia at Senior Salute. If you have not yet placed your order, please do so as soon as possible.

Commencement Rehearsal

Commencement Rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. under the tent on the Campus Mall. In the case of inclement weather, an alternative location will be announced. During rehearsal, seniors will be given additional information regarding the Baccalaureate and Commencement events, have a cap and gown demonstration, will review forming the processional and receive instructions for the Commencement service, will pick up their reserved-seating tickets and can pre-purchase guest tickets for the Baccalaureate Dinner.

Following rehearsal, reserved-seating tickets will be taken to the Information Desk at Kline Campus Center. If you are unable to make it to rehearsal, you will need to pick up your tickets from that location. Someone will be available to hand out tickets through Saturday morning. Please be sure to bring your college ID if you are picking up your tickets from the Information Desk.

Baccalaureate Dinner

If you are participating in Baccalaureate, please speak with your guests regarding plans to attend dinner. We would like an estimate of the number of people to expect and will be requesting this information following Commencement rehearsal, as you pick up your reserved-seating tickets. If you are unable to make it to rehearsal but are planning on attending the dinner, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let us know. Please note, Parkhurst will be on-hand following Commencement rehearsal for seniors to buy dinner tickets for their guests. If you know that you and your guests plan to attend the Baccalaureate dinner, you may want to purchase their tickets following rehearsal to avoid any lines at the door the evening of Baccalaureate. If you are interested in pre-purchasing dinner tickets following rehearsal you will need to pay with either cash or a check made out to Parkhurst Dining.

Honor Cords

Seniors will be able to pick up their honor cords from the Registrar’s office on Friday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Group Photo

A group photo of the Class of 2018 will be taken at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 on the home side bleachers at the football field. Seniors should arrive to the football stadium at 8:45 a.m. In the case of inclement weather, the class photo will be taken in Nininger Hall.

Access to the photo area will be limited to seniors and Commencement staff. We ask that all guests please be respectful of the photographer and Bridgewater College staff as they try to capture the group photo in an organized and timely manner, so as not to delay the start of Commencement.

Residence Hall Checkout

Residence hall checkout should be completed by 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. Exceptions will need to be cleared through Student Life.

Alumni Email Access

Following graduation, seniors can continue to use their Bridgewater email for as long as they choose. In order to do so you will need to sign up for Alumni Email Access. If you do not sign up, your account will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to access e-mail. To sign up, go to the following website and follow the instructions under “Alumni Email Sign Up.”

In addition, after graduation your Box account will be transitioned out of the Bridgewater domain. For your own convenience, make sure to change your Box password prior to graduation. To change your password:

  • Log into Box.
  • Go to the Authentication section located under “Account Settings” (Account Settings can be found at the top right of the screen).

This will be the password you’ll use to access Box after your account is transitioned to Alumnus status.
