Leadership and Community Engagement Minor

Seeking to Live Principled Lives of Purpose and Consequence

The Leadership and Community Engagement Minor is an interdisciplinary academic program focusing on the nature, understanding, and application of leadership and community engagement. Drawing from several academic disciplines, students in the program gain an understanding of the practice of leadership in a variety of career fields as well as what it means to work in and apply their majors to civic and community engagement fields dedicated to social change. These fields include nonprofit management, community leadership, public policy, social entrepreneurship, community and public health, human services, or a variety of advocacy fields with the goal of bettering the lives of individuals and their communities. This program is designed to give students the confidence to apply what they learn in their coursework by seeking out real-world leadership roles in their future places of employment and to explore ways in which they can engage their communities as agents of change.
