Hours: The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and noon to midnight on Sunday.

Movie poster and package designer Richard Hillard brings his vision of poster art to film and cult classics both past and present. CINEMA MACABRE features a number of silkscreened images done for the collectible market, as well as prop posters, book jackets and packaging for individual episodes of AMC’s CREEPSHOW.

An author, illustrator and educator, Hillard was born in rural Virginia and spent his youth dreaming of going to New York City to study art. After graduating from the Pratt Institute, he began a 20-year career in the Big Apple where he worked for ad agencies, exhibit design firms and publishing. He is currently a professor of graphic design and illustration at James Madison University and a member of the New York Society of Illustrators.

CINEMA MACABRE will be showcased Monday, Jan. 8, through Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Beverly Perdue Art Gallery located on the main level of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons. The art exhibition will have an opening reception in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, with an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. The art exhibition, opening reception and artist’s talk are free and open to the public.

The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and noon to midnight on Sunday.
