Christy Midgett, Chelsea Parent and Jazmine C. Wood received the Donald R. Witters Awards in Psychology presented during the annual awards convocation.
The psychology awards are named in honor of Dr. Donald R. Witters, who retired at the end of the 2005-2006 academic year as professor of psychology emeritus. He joined the Bridgewater College faculty in 1968 as a professor of psychology and served as chair of the department from 1990 to 1996.
The winners’ names will be added to plaques in the psychology department and each received a Bridgewater College throw.
The Outstanding Service Leadership Award was presented to Midgett, a psychology major from Keedysville, Md., for her work mentoring freshman and sophomore psychology students.
The Outstanding Research Award was presented to Parent, a psychology major with minors in neuroscience and family and consumer sciences, from Gorham, Maine. The award is presented for excellence in demonstrated research and potential to contribute to the knowledge base within the discipline.
The Outstanding Academic Performance Award was given to Wood, a psychology major from Richmond, Va. The award recognizes consistent, superior performance in the classroom.
