Bridgewater College’s Jackelina Letaiugyang Awarded Petcher Scholarship

College Awards Honoring Outstanding Students

Bridgewater College student Jackelina Letaiugyang received the Esther Mae Wilson Petcher Memorial Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year.

The award, for $3,120, is named in memory of Esther Mae Wilson Petcher, a member of the Bridgewater class of 1944 and a former missionary to Nigeria. The grant is given each year to a rising senior in good academic standing who demonstrates leadership in campus activities with emphasis on religious life.

Letaiugyang is an English major with a minor in professional writing. Her guardians are Thai and Sharon Nguyen of Luray, Va. Letaiugyang is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society.

She serves as co-leader of the Outreach Team for Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU), an interdenominational Christian ministry on campus. She is a member of the Spiritual Life Board and serves as web editor for BCVoice, the student-run news organization. During the 2020-21 academic year, Letaiugyang completed an internship in the Office of Career Services.
