2021 Communication Studies Award Presented at Bridgewater College

College Awards Honoring Outstanding Students

Alexis Brown was presented the Outstanding Student Award from the department of communication studies at Bridgewater College.

The award is presented to the outstanding graduating senior in communication, technology and culture and is based on academic performance, leadership, excellence in writing, and internship and work experience.

Brown, a communication, technology and culture major with a minor in leadership, is the daughter of Russell and Nikki Brown of Bowling Green, Va.

Brown is a member of Alpha Chi, a national scholastic honor society; Lambda Pi Eta, a national communication studies honor society; and Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society.

She served as a staff writer for BC Voice, the student-run media organization on campus. She wrote weekly articles on topics including sports, culture and news. She also co-created and collaborated on BCVoice 360, a weekly podcast series. Brown completed an internship with the women’s basketball team. For her internship, she directed and edited promotional videos, photographed and promoted the players through social media, and interviewed players and coaches about their goals and future development of the program.
