A juried show of sculpture in a variety of mediums from members of the Tri State Sculptors, “Capacity,” will be showcased Monday, Feb. 13, through Wednesday, March 22, in the Beverly Perdue Art Gallery at Bridgewater College.

Established in 1978, the Tri State Sculptors originated with sculptors from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia to promote public awareness and appreciation of sculpture in the region. It has grown to represent a broader portion of the Southeastern U.S.

The exhibition will be juried by Kelly Schrader. The Raleigh, N.C.,-based artist’s personal work is influenced by artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp, whose works frequently featured non-art and everyday materials. Common themes Schrader deals with are time, process, identity and image. Schrader holds a B.A. in art history and a B.F.A. in studio arts from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.

The art exhibition will have an opening reception in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and noon to midnight on Sunday.
