Aaron Nau, a Bridgewater College junior, and Nadezhda “Nadia” Zoteva, a Bridgewater College senior, will present a joint voice recital on Saturday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Carter Center for Worship and Music.

Saturday’s voice recital will open with Nau singing “If With All Your Hearts” by Felix Mendelssohn, followed by “Gentle Airs, Melodious Strains!” from Athalia by George Frideric Handel. The program will continue with Zoteva performing “Le charme” by Ernest Chausson and “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz by Harold Arlen.

The program will continue with Nau singing “Offrande” by Reynaldo Hahn, “Heidenröslein” by Franz Schubert and “Die Lotusblume” by Robert Schumann. Zoteva will follow with “But the Lord is Mindful of His Own” and “Pilgerspruch” by Mendelssohn and “How Can I Keep from Singing” by R. Lowry and arranged by Frank Ponzio.

Nau will continue the program with “Where the Music Comes From” by Lee Hoiby, “O Mistress Mine” by Roger Quilter and “Linden Lea” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Following those pieces, Zoteva will sing “La Maja Dolorosa” from Colección de Tonadillas by Enrique Granados, “Cara e Dolce” by Alessandro Scarlatti and “Quella fiamma” by Benedetto Marcello.

The performance will conclude with Nau’s rendition of “Dalla sua pace” from Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and “La donna è mobile” by Giuseppe Verdi, and Zoteva performing “Katerino Mome,” a traditional Bulgarian folk song arranged by Desi Dobreva. Zoteva, a Bulgarian native, will sing the last piece in Bulgarian.

Nau will sing in three different languages—Latin, German and English—during his pieces.

During the program, Nau and Zoteva will be accompanied on piano by Adjunct Instructor of Music Shannon Kiser and Professor of Music Dr. Larry Taylor, Andrew Nau ’23 on drums and Jacob Bentley ’22 on electric guitar. Both Nau and Zoteva are students of Kiser.

Nau is a music major from Yorktown, Va., and a member of the National Association for Music Educators, the Screamin’ Eagles Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Gospel Choir and Guys Accapella. He also is involved with Engage, the College’s worship band, the Brethren Student Movement, BC Spiritual Life Board, Habitat for Humanity and Lend-a-Paw, an animal advocacy organization.
